Biography

Megan is a multi-instrumentalist and music teacher based in Malvern Worcestershire. She plays clarinet, saxophone, flute and harp, which allows her to explore many genres. She has also had the honour of performing on many of the big stages within in the UK, including, the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
Megan graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a first class honours in Music in the summer of 2021 and was awarded the Williams prize for exceptional woodwind performance. She then graduated from Cardiff University in the autum of 2022 with a Master of the Arts in music performance, where she push her technical capabilities by choosing to explore the clarinet’s auxiliary instruments. She is currently studying at Manchester Metropolitan University and the Royal Northern College of music to gain her PGCE with specialist instrumental teaching.
Megan’s varied choice of repertoire commonly includes Baroque, Classical, Jazz, Contemporary and liturgical choral music. This, she often chooses to balance by specialising these genres onto specific instruments. She also sees the clarinet as her most versatile instrument enjoying a variety of musical ensembles such as orchestra’s, pit orchestra’s, jazz bands and wind bands.

For personal pleasure Megan has an active engagement with liturgical choral music which she has undertaken with world-renowned choirs such as the Huddersfield Choral Society. This interest has led to her extensively touring the English cathedrals, most notably, St Pauls’ Cathedral, Wells Cathedral and Hereford Cathedral with Academia Musica.
Educationally Megan aims to keep her skills relevant and interesting. Most recently she has undertaken professional development with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in understanding their new performance grades. More practically Megan has aided with tutoring youth wind sections within the English Symphony Orchestra Youth orchestra programmes. She has also helped tutor wind ensembles during an educational placement. This has led to her being experienced in tutoring students between the ages of 6 and 18. Megan takes an active interest in music education research, most recently undertaking a research project in which she began to investigate the effects of primary school music education on adult perceptions and engagement with music.
